Description

Our sterling silver pendant features a silver denarius of Marcus Aurelius, last of the "Five Great Roman Emperors". This coin was minted in between 161-180 A.D.

Aurelius wrote the book Meditations, one of the most highly regarded texts of Roman times.

The beautiful clean surface on this coin has a bold profile of Aurelius. "Alone of the emperors," wrote the historian Herodian, "He gave proof of his learning not by mere words or knowledge of philosophical doctrines but by his blameless character and temperate way of life." The reverse, whose image is inverted to the front shows a goddess holding the scales of justice in her hand.

Your gift boxed pendant comes complete with a descriptive brochure and a Certificate of Authenticity. You can choose your favorite style and length of necklace. "Alone of the emperors," wrote the historian Herodian, "he gave proof of his learning not by mere words or knowledge of philosophical doctrines but by his blameless character and temperate way of life."
