The Anasazi people are known to the Navajo as the “Ancient Ones” . Inhabitants of a region from Arizona to Colorado, they flourished in the American southwest until the 1300’s. Either because of climate changes or pressure from other cultures, Anasazi society collapsed and the population disappeared.
The earliest pottery had black designs on white or light gray backgrounds ,later evolving into reddish brown ware in the 13th century. All of our historic Anasazi pottery shards were collected from private lands in Colorado, New Mexico, and Arizona.
